About Leather

Full-grain leather refers to hides that have not been sanded, buffed, or snuffed (as opposed to top-grain or corrected leather) to remove imperfections (or natural marks) on the surface of the hide. The grain remains, giving the fiber strength and durability. The grain also has breathability, resulting in less moisture from prolonged contact. Rather than wearing out, the leather develops a patina during its lifetime. High-quality leather furniture and footwear are often made from full-grain leather.

Being a natural material, leather often presents minor marks and variations inherent to the hide. While mass produced or high-end bags try to eliminate those imperfections, we see them as part of the unique character of the material. We believe it is possible to make bags that are beautiful without supporting the wastefulness of the handbag industry.
